Shona was born in 1988 in Santa Clara, California. She knew she wanted to be an artist  after watching a Jim Henson instructional VHS on how to be a cartoonist when she was 4 years old. In 2003, her family moved from Northern California to Peoria, Arizona. As a teenager, she took advantage of a variety of elective art classes ranging from digital and film photography to advertising art. After high school, Shona attended Glendale Community College for her Associate of Art Degree and then Arizona State University for a BFA in Printmaking (focusing on copper plate intaglio and screen printing). After college, she spent time doing small editions of screen prints for bands (Megaspore Studio) and focusing more on her drawing skills. All the while, she slowly studied tattooing. In 2015 she permanently moved to Portland, Oregon to make tattooing a career.
Her preferred tattoo style can be best described as surrealist blackwork, focusing on the natural elements, anatomy, objects, flora and fauna, the occult and macabre. Shona is also a huge art history nerd, loves watching sci-fi/horror films, hanging out with her cat Tesla, traveling, and furthering her artistic practice through mixed media.
She is currently a MFA in Printmedia candidate at PNCA in Portland, OR.
